Your behavior impacts the way that people view you and respond to you: colleagues; customers; clients; stakeholders; suppliers; and yes, friends and family too.
Prefrr© is a simple self-questionnaire that points to your behavioural preferences and helps you to think about how your preferences may impact the way others respond towards you.
Select the behavior domains you want to explore, then answer the questions that follow. Prefrr© calculates a score based on your answers, outlines the characteristics of your score and provides tips for how you might choose to adjust your behavior, should you want to.
Answer quickly and instinctively. The more honest you are in answering the questions the more value you will get from the results.
Your Prefrr© scores are saved anonymously with only the date and time of completion. No name, email address or IP address is ever stored.
If you choose to help with our research on the next screen, your job category, industry and country will be saved alongside your scores.

Situations where flexing your preferred behavior can be helpful include business presentations, customer meetings, team meetings, discussions with colleagues, job interviews and even phone conversations.
Prefrr© is an adaptation of the Octagon© behavioral questionnaire initially developed by Keith Dugdale and David Lambert with the assistance of Dr Roland Simons and a team of psychologists at Australia's Queensland University of Technology.
Tens of thousands have since completed the questionnaire using it primarily to adjust their face-to-face behavior to achieve better conversation outcomes.
Prefrr© helps you become more aware of your behavioral preferences and then learn to flex those behaviors in order to help others think differently and arrive at new insights. Prefrr© provides a framework for understanding:
- Your own behavioral preferences
- How your preferences may affect others' perceptions about you
- The behavioral preferences of others
Median scores (around the 90 mark) indicate flexibility. Scores towards the higher or lower ends of the 0–180 scale — less than 65 or more than 135 — indicate greater difficulty shifting behaviour in the other direction. Not impossible, just more difficult.
Understanding the preferences of others, and being able to flex your own behaviour to change how you impact the thinking of other people, is where the real power of Prefrr© lies.
While there is no certainty, our research suggests that matching behaviors tends to help develop rapport which is a good building block for a strong relationship.
Finally, always use Prefrr© responsibly — Prefrr© is not a tool for influencing or manipulating situations, or the behavior of others. Nor should it be used as a tool for recruitment or performance appraisal.
There is no ideal Prefrr© profile. What matters is the ability to flex behaviour.
A strong starting point — a launch pad — for any relationship (whether with a colleague, client, or customer) is one that shows flexibility, a willingness to trust, and an openness to seeing and progressing opportunities.
Scores within the Launch Pad range described in your results represent a good starting point for building strong, trusted relationships.
Scores outside the Launch Pad range are not bad in themselves — they simply indicate a stronger preference in one direction. Awareness of this preference gives you the opportunity to flex your behaviour when the situation calls for it.
